MAGICAL REALISM. A blurred reality in a saga created and retold.
This sequence treads right in between themes of death, struggle, and politics. They are present in abstract representation in order to create visual tension and allude to the themes of the narrative. These metaphors create strong visuals; foreign but grounded in reality. The monochromatic color and a graphic painterly style lend themselves to a dream-like depiction. Undercurrents of the saga can be seen throughout the sequence and we end on the hands of a Colombian cocoa farmer.
